Weekly Summary of Events | January 26th – February 2nd, 2025

The week ended with settlers setting fire to the mosque in Muarajat. During the week, an engineering vehicle was spotted on the ridge north of Ras al-Ein, paving a road leading from the settlement of Kochav Hashachar without a permit. Herds of settlers continued to penetrate the houses of Palestinian villages.

Summary

On the night between Saturday and Sunday (1-2 February 2025), four settlers, who were leaving an illegal outpost, set fire to a tractor and the mosque of Muarajat. The four were seen returning to the outpost.

During the week, illegal earthworks were carried out to pave a road leading from the settlement of Kochav Hashachar to Ras al-Ein. Reports to the Civil Hotline, the military and the police did not yield any action to stop the work.

A boy from an outpost invaded the yard of a house in Muarajat while ignoring a soldier's demand that he move away from it because it was in private land belonging to Palestinian residents.

During the week, eight incursions into the communities of Ras al-Ein and Muarajat  were documented, during which young men from the outposts entered the communities with their flocks, grazed near the residents' homes and damaged their property.

Sunday

the herd of camels invaded the western area of Ras al-Ein. The flock of sheep was led to the southwestern area of Abu Taleb houses, and from there to the southern area of Ras al-Ein.

Monday

The herd of goats led by a minor from the outpost approached the area of Abu Musa. The minor approached the activists and Gabriel Kalish, the head of security, at Mevo'ot Yericho, also arrived and spoke with him and another armed settler. At around 3:00 P.M, the herd began to return to the outpost.

In the afternoon, an excavator was identified at continued (work that was stopped a few weeks ago) paving the road from Kochav Hashachar to Ras a-Ein. The army and police were called by activists several times, but none of the uniformed men showed up.

Also on Monday, a meeting was held at the head of the Auja council with representatives of the occupation army on the issue of dealing with the incursions of the outpost criminals into the areas of the herding communities in the area. The meeting was concluded as positive.

Tuesday

A settler with a herd of goats arrived in the morning near the houses of Abu Taleb in Ras al-Ein. At 10:00 A.M., a flock of sheep and a settler entered Muarajat. In this case again activists reported to the police and communication center.

As yesterday afternoon, the excavator was seen on the road from Kochav Hashachar.

Wednesday

At noon, a settler was spotted and documented near a residential house in Muarajat, where he opened a water tank tap.

Thursday

A settler with a herd was in the afternoon close to the residents' homes. Flocks of Palestinians were grazing in the areas of Ras al-Ein.

Friday

A minor from the outpost and a herd of goats were in the western area of Ras al-Ein in the morning. A military vehicle arrived at the scene with soldiers and with Gabriel Kalish, the chief of security at Mevo’ot Yericho.

In the morning, a young settler with a flock of sheep invaded the area of Muarajat, entered the yard of a house and opened the water tank. A local resident who lives in the house asked him to leave the yard, but the settler refused and stayed with the herd. Activists called the military, and a female soldier informed the settler that he was on private land and had to leave. He argued and didn't leave. The female soldiers left. After half an hour, the intruder and his flock left the village.

At 11:00 P.M., Gabriel Kalish drove into Ras al-Ein with a police car and stopped the activists’ vehicle which were following him. He demanded ID cards and gave the vehicle a long and disturbing check. After finding nothing, he drove away.

Saturday

In the afternoon a herd of camels with 4 settlers from the outpost positioned themselves near the houses of Abu Taleb. Gabriel Kalish came for a visit.

At 5:00 P.M., a water pipe that had been cut off from the canal was damaged – activists repaired it.

Sunday

In the early hours of Sunday morning, at 1:56 a.m., the "Looking" activist received a message from a resident of Muarajat stating that a tractor owned by a Palestinian that was parked near the mosque had been set on fire.

A few minutes later (at 02:03 A.M.), a resident of the village reported that the mosque of Muarajat was on fire. The activists who arrived five minutes later met a military force that included three soldiers. Next to them was a settler who had filmed the incident.

A few minutes later, another military force under the command of an officer arrived. He took testimony from a resident of the village which said that four settlers had come from the outpost of Zohar Sabah and returned there after setting fire to the tractor and the mosque. The officer ordered the soldiers who were present to go out to the outpost and "bring the four suspects" so that the Palestinian witness could identify them.

An hour after the fire broke out, a police car arrived at the scene and the policeman suggested that the Palestinian witness to file a complaint at the Binyamin station in the morning. The patrol car then left the scene of the fire on its way towards the outpost of Zohar Sabah.
