Shepherd Protection

Shepherd protection activities are intended to protect palestinian herding communities from the persecution and harassment of extremist and violent settlers, residents of the illegal outposts that have been established in the baqaa in recent years. Palestinian communities in the Jordan Valley are currently undergoing an increasing pattern of daily and nightly abuse by the military and settlers in the area, including false (sometimes prolonged) arrests, threats, confiscation of property, nightly visits and house demolitions.

The goal is clear and clear: to clear the territory from Palestinians for the benefit of the settlers and annex it to the State of Israel, as settlements and outposts of settlers built in violation of the law expand there at a record pace, without hindrance and with the support of the security system. Violence by settlers in outposts towards Palestinian residents is surging, and the authorities are doing nothing against them.

We are a group of volunteers who are in the Bekaa every day and, unfortunately, constitute a single buffer between the herding communities and these settlers, who act with extreme cruelty and carelessness against the herders and the Palestinian inhabitants of the Bekaa, with the aim of forcing their feet off pasture and farming.

We are there every day. Our presence in Bekaa is also important for collecting data and documenting the illegal acts committed by these entities, bringing them to the attention of the public and decision-makers in Israel and abroad. We also assist in legal activities to combat injustices and their perpetrators.

In addition, a human connection is established between the activists and the communities that allows us to also help and contribute with additional issues of help: collection and distribution of equipment, clothes, toys, English lessons, help in the restoration of water pits and destroyed infrastructure, legal assistance when needed. And in general meeting their basic needs in order to survive and not leave their home. The people of the herding communities know that they can contact us at any time for assistance.

We need more volunteers and volunteers who will join the vigils that go out every single day to accompany the Palestinian shepherds in the pastures in the Bekaa near their settlements.
